Shark cupcake

All you need is a gummy shark and a knife (poor sharky!) to make this simple shark cupcake for an ocean-themed party, aquarium visit, or other event.

What You Need: 1 cupcake; white, off-white, or light blue frosting; 1 gummy shark; knife or kitchen shears.

How to Make It: Frost cupcake. Carefully cut the shark slightly above its tail fin. Place the tail and the rest of the shark’s body a short ways apart on the cupcake, so it looks like his midsection is underwater.

Fish bowl cupcake

It’s the first ever “guest cupcakes” post on EasyCupcakes.com! Emily K. and her kids had a blast making and decorating these fishbowl-themed cupcakes. Thanks for sharing them, Emily!

What You Need: 1 cupcake; white frosting; frosting tinted blue; gummi fish (Swedish fish); Nerds candies; green fruit rolls; scissors or butter knife.

How to Make It: Frost cupcake with a thin layer of white icing. Let dry for a bit. Frost all but about a half-inch area at the top of the cupcake with blue icing so it looks like water in a bowl. Put a bunch of colorful Nerds candies near the bottom of the “bowl” for gravel. Cut fruit roll into long pieces like aquarium plants, folding some over at the top. Add your fish!

Teddy bear on beach cupcakes

These cupcakes are inspired by the latest Betty Crocker Supermoist publication. You can make the sand out of crushed-up graham crackers or just use brown sugar.
What You Need: 1 cupcake; frosting tinted blue; Lifesaver candy; Teddy Graham bear; paper umbrella; graham crackers or brown sugar. (If you use brown sugar, serve the cupcakes right away or the sugar may start dissolving into the frosting.)
How to Make It: Frost cupcake. sprinkle graham cracker crumbs or brown sugar at one edge for “sand.” Cut legs off bear (ouch!) and use a dab of frosting to stick into Lifesaver. Add paper umbrella.

Is there a Finding Nemo fan in your house? Planning a themed birthday party? How much simpler can it get than plopping a gummy clown fish on a cupcake and adding a few mini M&M “bubbles”?
What You Need: 1 cupcake; icing tinted light blue; gummy clownfish; blue mini M&Ms.
How to Make It: Frost cupcake. Add fish. Add 3 blue mini M&Ms, upside-down so the writing doesn’t show, for bubbles.

Fishing pole cupcakes

Great for the fisherman in your life and a fun project for kids!
What You Need: 1 cupcake; icing tinted blue; stick pretzel; goldfish cracker; white writing icing.
How to Make It: Frost cupcake. Place pretzel on top at an angle. Add fish about to be “caught.” Use white icing to “draw” a fishing line connecting the pretzel pole and the fish.

These cute fish cupcakes owe their open mouths to O-shaped Life Savers candies!

What You Need: 1 cupcake (baked and cooled); white or off-white frosting; orange paste-style food coloring or red and yellow liquid food coloring; 3 mini candied orange slices; two blue M&Ms; 1 Life Saver.
Make That Cupcake!: Tint frosting orange (or actually any color you’d like your fish to be). Add three candied orange slices at sides and back of cupcake for fins and tail. Add blue M&Ms (upside down) for eyes and Life Saver candy for mouth. Create a whole school of these fish for a swim party!
