Purple, green, and gold are the traditional colors for a Mardi Gras party, and these cupcakes will have you celebrating New Orleans style. Add a plastic coin (I got a bunch at the Dollar Tree) or other Mardi Gras item for extra “bling.”

What You Need: 1 cupcake; white frosting; sugar or sprinkles in purple, green and yellow; colored coin, mask, or other Mardi Gras decoration.

How to Make It: Use 1M metal tip to make swirl, or just use a plastic sandwich bag with a corner snipped off. Sprinkle colors in this order: purple, green, gold. Top with coin.

What You Need: 1 cupcake; frosting tinted pink; mini brown M&Ms.
How to Make It: Frost cupcake pink. Place mini M&Ms on top of cupcake with the M side down.

M&M Dot Cupcakes

What You Need: 1 cupcake; white frosting; mini M&Ms; regular M&Ms; peanut butter M&Ms.
How to Make It: Frost cupcake white. Add M&Ms in various sizes and colors. That’s it!

What better way to celebrate Presidents’ Day and honor the United States’ 16th president than with tasty log cabin cupcakes? That’s right: Easycupcakes.com even features cupcakes for Lincoln’s Birthday. And not just one cupcake design either. Oh, and if George Washington is your favorite, we have the cupcake for you coming up soon.
What You Need: 1 cupcake (baked and cooled); green frosting; slim stick pretzels; white writing icing or white icing in pastry bag with medium round tip (we used #5).
How to Make It: Frost cupcake. Immediately arrange pretzels in log cabin shape, breaking pieces to form room and chimney. Pipe white door and window. Have fun; be creative.

These easy musical note cupcakes would be perfect for a recital, band fund-raiser or other event. Make different notes (quarter, eighth, etc.) for variety!

What You Need: 1 cupcake (baked and cooled); white frosting; Junior Mint or similar candies; black writing icing.
Make That Cupcake!: Frost cupcake white. Place Junior Mint in lower one-third of cupcake top. Use writing icing to draw in the stem (and flag if you want) of the note. Now, rest! (Or take it at the coda and make more.)
